GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Responsible for supporting the Senior Director of Grants, Research & Development with ECS program requirements, including gathering and compiling data for the Community Assessments and Annual Reports, with identifying, researching, developing and submitting grant proposals and reports to support the Programs including HS/EHS Continuation applications, and to support the design, execution, analysis and integration of early childhood initiative research to enhance the services provided to the children and families served.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Grants

  1. Perform prospect research on foundations, corporations, and government to evaluate prospects for grants.
  2. Support the preparation of Continuation Applications for HS/EHS grants, including supporting the creation of project plans where needed, writing assigned sections, organizing attachments, and other tasks as needed for timely grant submissions.
  3. Support the preparation of grant proposals that support ECS programs, including supporting the creation of project plans where needed, writing assigned sections, organizing attachments, and other tasks as needed for timely grant submissions.
  4. Support the preparation of proposals for new funding opportunities for ECS.
  5. Work with program and fiscal departments to gather information necessary to report to funders on current grant programs.
  6. Maintain database and paper files of all grants, including grant tracking and reporting.
  7. Submit proposals within deadlines to grant coordinators or concerned people for approvals
  8. Perform other duties that may be necessary to maintain the success of ECS grants.

Research

  1. Support the annual assessment of community needs for early education programs, including gathering and compiling data from multiple sources
  2. Support the development of reports for the Head Start/Early Head Start Program to meet the program requirements as well as the development of the ECS Annual Report
  3. Assist in the preparation of agency-specific reports with government and private data regarding early childhood initiatives
  4. Support the identification and execution of ECS research projects.
  5. Perform other duties that may be necessary to maintain the success of ECS grants.

  • This position reports to the Senior Director of Grants, Research & Development.

 

 
Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field with experience in grant writing or grant support required

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills with ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to understand the project requirements, the organization, departments and its functions
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills and demonstrated ability to multitask effectively in fast paced environment within resource constraints and deadlines
  • Ability to conduct thorough, high volume research through interviews, file search, Internet and assemble information for effective written documents
  • Ability to incorporate accurate and pertinent information in the proposal or application
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications [Word, Excel, PowerPoint], database and Internet.
  • Strong research skills
  • Excellent written skills with proper knowledge of grammar
  • Strong proofreading and editing skills essential
  • Experienced in handling highly confidential matters with discretion

LICENSES, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • Certificates of acknowledgement required: Conflict of Interest, Code of Ethics, Confidentiality agreements, IT Systems and Security, Anti-Fraud, HR Employee Acknowledgement Form.
  • Complete 15 hours of in-service / professional development training hours each fiscal year (July-June)

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Works in an office setting

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS:

  • Typical Physical & Mental Demands: Requires prolonged sitting with some bending, stooping and stretching, and eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, photocopier, calculator and other office equipment.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to communicate with clients and staff.

In addition, ECS recently became the new Head Start/Early Head Start grantee in Marion, Dixie, Gilchrist, Lake, Levy, and Citrus counties and the Early Head Start grantee in Gainesville. As a result, we now serve another 1,500 children and their families in these areas.
