Registered Nurse - MAT

Description

What are we looking for in a Registered Nurse?

Nurses for our outpatient programs collaborate with their assigned treatment teams to provide integrated, evidence-based treatment to clients. Nurses work closely with clients to administer medications, to provide education about prescriptions and general health needs, and to develop a treatment plan that reflects the clients' goals. When possible, nurses will also coordinate with clients' families or social supports to help position clients for success. Our programs have adopted trauma-informed principles to client care, so the nursing process will similarly take a respectful, client-centered approach. This position is part of our outpatient medication-assisted treatment program for individuals who are opioid-dependent. Substance use treatment at Comprehensive is evidence-based and emphasizes harm reduction & continued progress toward each individual's recovery goals. This position requires a Registered Nurse who demonstrates an understanding of substance use disorders and their treatment, supports the evidence-based model of medication-assisted treatment, and understands the potential risks and thus need to follow exactly all protocols & testing to provide safe treatment.

  • utilizing electronic dispensing software for methadone administration
  • monitoring methadone and dispensing supplies, completing daily inventory, and following protocol for receiving shipments
  • counseling clients & their families about medications and treatment
  • completing nursing assessments and monitoring for symptoms of dyskinesia, sedation, or intoxication prior to administering any medication
  • reviewing new prescriptions provided by clients for contraindications and coordinating care with hospitals & clinics as needed
  • assessing clients for safety and risk to self or others, and taking appropriate crisis intervention measures when indicated
