Administers nursing care to patients and/or plans, directs and coordinates the nursing care of patients via the nursing process and in collaboration with the health care team. The RN also instructs patients and families in procedures, health care practices and continuing care after discharge. The RN performs job duties and responsibilities in a manner adhering to the hospital and department's policies and procedures. The RN may be assigned other responsibilities for the area.

The RN is qualified to perform a nursing intervention defined as administration of moderate sedation (conscious sedation) and can monitor the patient's response and provide necessary physiological support during a diagnostic or therapeutic procedure. The RN will receive initial education on hire in moderate sedation and will have an annual competency.

  • Bases care on the nursing process.
  • Demonstrates thorough, accurate and timely assessments while exhibiting necessary response to changes in the patient's condition.
  • Provides and documents care per hospital and department policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates competence in clinical and technical skills.
  • Provides instructions to patient/families regarding cardiology procedures and care following discharge.
  • Seeks educational opportunities to improve knowledge/skill.
  • Participates in identifying or recommending areas for improvement.
  • Completes work in an efficient, timely manner that is conducive to team work and cost containment.
  • Communicates in a clear, concise and professional manner.
  • Performs nursing care following safety principles, OSHA guidelines and infection control guidelines.
  • Provides patient care following the Patient's First Commitment.
Position Requirements


Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR); Registered Nurse (RN)


Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current Registered Nurse license with the state of Indiana.


Mandatory Annual Continuing Education: Customer Service, Fire and Safety, Confidentiality-HIPAA, Infection Control, Corporate Compliance. Annual Unit Specific Competencies, and all education required by regulatory, accreditation bodies and/or Hancock Regional Hospital.
