Our client, Weaber Inc. (Weaber) is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its senior leadership team at their Headquarters in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. For over 75 years, Weaber has been proudly committed to the hardwood products industry and has grown from a small local mill into one of the nation's leading hardwood products manufacturers. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the CFO is accountable for the financial and risk management operations of the company. This includes the development of a financial and operational strategy, the metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. This individual will fill a key leadership role and is expected to serve as the organizational advisor on all financial matters.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Planning & Financial Information

  • Assist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives
  • Work with the CEO and COO to monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans
  • Develop financial and tax strategies
  • Manage the capital request and budgeting processes
  • Develop performance measures and monitoring systems that support the company's strategic direction.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate potential risks in a timely manner
  • Propose action plans to ensure that annual financial objectives are attained
  • Support the CEO with the preparation of monthly and annual financial plans
  • Maintain speed and accuracy of billings and client payments
  • Oversee the issuance of financial information
  • Report financial results to the board of directors

Operations

  • Oversee acquisition due diligence activities
  • Maintain relationships with banking, risk management, audit, tax and legal firms.
  • Represent the company with investment bankers and the with the investment community
  • Assist in developing and executing demand plan to achieve company goals
  • Collaborate with Operations and Sales in creating an attainable Supply/Replenishment plan based on demand plan and supply side capacity/capabilities
  • Oversee the company's transaction processing systems
  • Understand demand forecasts to support budgeting and inventory management
  • Drive continuous improvement of forecast quality. Develop relevant metrics, tools and analytics to drive our forecast error, improving accuracy

Risk Management

  • Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile
  • Monitor all open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the industry
  • Construct and monitor reliable control systems
  • Maintain appropriate insurance coverage
  • Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements that fall under the CFO's realm of responsibility.
  • Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
  • Report risk issues to the CEO and the board of directors
  • Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations

Funding

  • Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts
  • Arrange for debt financing and equity financing
  • Invest funds
 
Position Requirements

The successful candidate will be a highly professional, proven leader with the following qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Accounting, Business or related field is desired (MBA preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive experience (both technical and managerial) with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Prior experience with a major manufacturing company or division of a large corporation is required. Strong experience in the building products or forest products industry is preferred, but not essential.
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills; the ability to exercise good judgement; fine-tuned problem-solving skills; strong interpersonal skills; well-developed analytical abilities; and organizational skills
  • Ability to work as a team player, collaborate with Senior Leadership and operate effectively within and across all levels of the organization.
  • Must have advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office, and Microsoft Dynamics financial reporting software and/or an alternative ERP solution. Strong Excel skills are essential.
