Description

Delegal Creek Marina is located with the gated community The Landings at the southernmost end of Skidaway Island near Savannah Gerogia. It is adjacent to the Intracoastal Waterway and within close proximity of Ossabaw Sound. Delegal Creek Marina can accommodate 58 boats up to 125 feet in length, and is an attractive destination for marina guests who travel the Intracoastal Waterway. https://landings.org/delegal-creek-marina

The Landings Association is seeking a Harbourmaster to assist in operations of the harbor. This position reports directly to the Marinas Director, provides direction to dockhands at Delegal and acts as a team mate to other Marina department members.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Interacts with customers on a variety of boating related topics.
  2. Maintains boat slips, including assigning slips to boat owners and conducting slip audits.
  3. Provides navigational direction to assist boaters in unfamiliar waters and to ensure marina traffic is organized.
  4. Identify and resolve customer boating issues.
  5. Oversees all dock maintenance
  6. Monitor proper usage and maintenance of all marina equipment
  7. Assist with tracking and managing vessel inventory at Delegal (wet slip rental & kayak storage)
  8. Daily and monthly tracking; including monthly P&L
  9. Attends monthly and quarterly meetings
  10. Supervises and provides direction to dock hands assigned to Delegal to meet customer service requirements.
  11. Assist with hiring and training under the direction of the Marinas Director
  12. Oversees all social functions held at Delegal and the Sunset Pavilion.
  13. Determines proper safety gear and techniques to reduce accidents.
  14. Works with direct report on techniques to improve the quality and quantity of work performed.
  15. Looks for opportunities to improve the operational aspects of the job
  16. Understands the Vision and Mission of TLA and how his/her position impacts department success.
  17. Works with other TLA departments on strategic planning
  18. Other duties as directed by the Marinas Director.

Position Requirements

Key Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Behavioral Characteristics Needed

  • Very strong knowledge of marina operations and safety techniques
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Basic computer skills, especially in Microsoft office and database applications
  • Very strong knowledge of boating, local waterways, navigational rules and water safety techniques
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead others well through influence and own example
  • Ability to read and understand the weather
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient with various hand tools (drill, grinder, skill saw, etc.)
  • Strong team player that demonstrates TLA Values
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays
  • Proactive; not problem-driven
