POSITION SUMMARY: BASIC FUNCTION

 

The Director, Green Energy is responsible for driving a program that provides energy, water & waste savings/reductions. This role will collaborate with NTT Engineering and Design groups to evaluate energy and water trends and opportunities for efficiency gains in data centers within NTTs portfolio. Collaboration includes developing energy optimization initiatives and rolling out across the NTT portfolio.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for planning, negotiating, and delivering of power to new and expanding data centers.
  • Work with internal stakeholders on forecasting capacity of new and existing facilities.
  • Work with Utility Companies to maximize incentives, tax savings and other programs to reduce costs.
  • Responsibilities will be primarily in the U.S. potentially expanding to overseas markets.
  • Support energy and sustainability strategy.
  • Support client energy, sustainability, and environmental teams to ensure goals are met.
  • Develop and execute renewable energy strategy for greenfield projects and acquisition targets.
  • Analyze and interpret regulations, policies, competitive landscape, power markets, input prices and other market data to drive development activities and enhance company’s overall strategy.
  • Negotiate energy contracts within deregulated markets.
  • Stay up to date with energy technology advances through partnerships with key vendors and market associations and evaluate technology development for application within the NTT portfolio.
  • Develop KPIs for managing and evaluating energy suppliers.
  • Calculate projected energy, water and waste/recycling savings for conservation opportunities and projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Expert knowledge of energy management within the critical facility environment.
  • Effective and clear communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills with experience managing simultaneous projects.
  • Detail oriented with a strong sense of personal responsibility and ownership of work product.
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage through influence.
  • Ability to be highly confidential.
  • Proficient with computers to include the utilization of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Manages stress and/or fast pace effectively.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related field required.
  • DC-CEP or CEM required.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Energy management within a critical facility environment.
  • Experience of energy and sustainability issues.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Primarily sitting with some walking, standing, and bending.
  • Able to hear and speak into a telephone.
  • Close visual work on a computer terminal.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Able to climb a ladder and work on a raised platform.

 

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Standard office; Data Center environment with varying temperatures and loud noises; extensive daily usage of workstation or computer.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Potential of 25-50% travel.
  • Telecommuting allowed.
  • Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver’s license.
  • Must possess a current, valid Passport
