Description

The Academy Museum will be the world’s premier institution dedicated to the art and science of movies. Located at Wilshire and Fairfax in Los Angeles, the Museum will be simultaneously immersive, experimental, educational, and entertaining. More than a museum, this dynamic film center will offer unparalleled experiences and insights into movies and movie-making.

The Merchandise Planner reports to the Director of Retail to develop assortment strategies and execute against strategic plans to achieve financial targets. You will build new tools to analyze performance and optimize processes, providing creative approaches that translate into insights for the business. You will manage and enhance the analysis of sales trends, margin, inventory levels and forecasts.

You Will:

  • Build bottoms-up targets by category with sales, margin and inventory plans at weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual level based on goals of driving growth and maximizing profitability. Manage the buy planning calendar and seasonal processes inclusive of performance hindsights, size scale optimization and buy plan targets.
  • Collaborate with IT to ensure data integrity for all merchandise reporting.
  • Perform detailed trend analyses for products. Evaluate related historical performance, marketing strategy and initial sales performance for new products.
  • Maintain and re-forecast open-to-buy (OTB) to evaluate inventory position, mix, and turn. Present monthly OTB review providing strategic recommendations to maximize sales and margin, optimize inventory and mitigate risk.
  • Build replenishment projections by style for core products.
  • Evaluate ideal product mix by classification and price point to produce SKU count and depth recommendations.
  • Analyze product performance based on placement and exposure. Evaluate impact of marketing and merchandising tactics on product conversion and customer metrics.
  • Assist in all administrative tasks that support the assortment strategies created to grow sales and margin targets.
  • Build, foster and manage vendor relationships throughout the vendor life-cycle, including facilitating on-boarding, optimization and compliance.
  • Responsible for sku ingestion, sku attribution and maintenance.
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 4+ years in merchandise planning; experience in both e-commerce and brick & mortar businesses
  • Retail math skills; ability to analyze sales and product statistics
  • Strong financial, analytical, and project management skills
  • Experience building reporting and processes
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets)
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop
  • Keen focus on accuracy and data integrity
  • Highly collaborative; success in driving plans across categories
  • Experience projecting and sizing new ideas and assortment expansions
