Cultural Competency Liaison 


What are we looking for in a Cultural Competency Liaison?

We seek to provide behavioral health treatment that is culturally-appropriate for all of our diverse communities. The Cultural Competency Liaison is a new position to help us meet this goal, particularly focusing on our relationship with and support of local tribal communities. The Cultural Competency Liaison will develop and maintain collaborative relationships with local tribal members and community organizations, work together to resolve issues, and expand the reach of our services within our local communities. This position is aimed at strengthening existing relationships with local tribes and building new bridges where possible, as well as improving the quality & competency of care that Comprehensive Healthcare staff provide to tribal members. To be successful in this role, the Cultural Competency Liaison should be skilled at building relationships and able to work both independently and in collaboration with others. We are seeking a candidate who has existing ties to tribal communities in Central Washington, plus experience working with tribal councils. This position will be based in Yakima and have a regular Monday-Friday day shift schedule, but may require some evening & weekend work and travel within our service area to attend community meetings or facilitate presentations.

Cultural Competency Liaison duties may include:

  • developing and maintaining positive and collaborative relationships with local tribal members and organizations
  • creating educational materials to integrate culturally-specific information into our existing evidence-based treatments
  • developing and presenting education materials related to culturally-specific treatment options to relevant community members & organizations
  • marketing culturally-specific treatment, education, and business consulting services to local tribal members & stakeholders, and following up to ensure satisfaction and offer additional services as appropriate
  • representing Comprehensive at community meetings to promote networking, increase public awareness of organization services, and enhance partnerships and communication with other community groups
  • designing and overseeing the development of promotional materials for culturally-specific treatment services, in coordination with Marketing staff
  • providing internal staff education and development to enhance productivity, effectiveness, and cultural competence amongst teams
Position Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology; Indigenous, Native American, or American Indian Studies; communications; business administration; human resources; or related field
  • Four years of work experience or training in a similar role
  • Existing relationship with local tribal communities and experience working with tribal councils
  • Experience building positive, culturally-specific relationships
