Head of External Talent Development and Inclusion Programs 

Description

This role resides in the Academy Foundation and reports to the Chief Operating Officer of the Academy. As an integral part of the Foundation programs team, you will provide a critical role in driving diversity awareness, inclusion, and outreach through a portfolio of programs offered to emerging global talent seeking careers in the film entertainment community. These programs include Academy Gold, Production Track, Nicholl Fellowships, Student Academy Awards, Careers in Film Summit, Education initiatives, and Academy Gold Fellowship for Women.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide an overarching vision for the portfolio of Foundation programs dedicated to talent development in the film and entertainment industry.
  • Identify, develop, and implement solutions needed to support our programs and initiatives.
  • Provide a high degree of engagement with key stakeholders and subject matter experts to develop a comprehensive strategy for outreach and awareness efforts to enhance diversity inclusion within the film industry.
  • Create a roadmap for success to ensure long-term impact in the industry and lead a team of 10+ to help deliver against it.
  • Lead ongoing business and program reviews, roadmap discussions, presentations to senior leadership, and team meetings to ensure transparency, open communication, learning opportunities, and ongoing process improvement.
  • Work with key leaders from the world of independent film, studios, professional associations, guilds, suppliers, technology providers and industry organizations to enlist support for the Academy’s diverse talent development initiative.
  • Deliver and drive value for our participating companies, partners, and sponsors.
  • Collaborate with other teams including the Margaret Herrick Library, Academy Film Archive, Grants, Public Programs, and Science and Technology Council to facilitate a cohesive strategy.
 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Media, Education, or related fields.
  • 15+ years of experience in a leadership role with a minimum of 5 years leading talent development and/or diversity and inclusion programs.
  • Must have a results-oriented mindset and serve as a thought leader and business influence.
  • Able to convey recommendations in a clear and compelling way.
  • Able to think strategically and take a whole company view, acting decisively and supporting others to be their best.
  • Skilled in using and interpreting data to influence program design and measurement of effectiveness and impact.
  • Experienced in collaborating and building consensus among departments of an organization.
  • Experience and credibility as a leader in an environment where the ability to influence, self-regulate, work across departments, build relationships, and demonstrate self-awareness and empathy is critical.
  • Advanced project management skills.
  • Strong entertainment (or related industry) network and contacts.
  • Skilled in creating and managing budgets.
