The eDiscovery Project Manager will manage matters for the FDA eDiscovery team, reporting to the Lead eDiscovery Project Manager.  The eDiscovery Project Manager will execute EDRM-driven practices as enacted for the eDiscovery FDA program, from matter initiation through collection, review, production, and close-out. The eDiscovery Project Manager will provide consultative input to the FDA requestor of eDiscovery support about how their requirements can be met (or cannot be delivered under current policy), ensure that case plan and tracking data are created and updated, work with the operations team to schedule and QC individual steps in the EDRM lifecycle, and manage ongoing communication with the FDA requestor. The eDiscovery Project Manager will also be expected to contribute to evolving process documentation and provide basic ad-hoc training to reviewers on the use of the Relativity review platform.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to manage multiple cases at the same time, including:
    • Establish and maintain all required case documentation.
    • Provide consultative support to legal and FOIA staff to ensure that their requirements are understood, clearly categorized for feasibility and to project turnaround times.
    • Communicate via different channels (email, meetings, calls) in a professional and responsive manner, including scheduled and mandated content (e.g. case plan updates, case closure requests, etc.).
    • Take customer requirements and convert them into clearly defined requests for assignment to operations team members.
    • Complete defined QC processes to ensure that completed tasks have been delivered as specified (e.g. spot checks, sampling, etc.).
    • Ability to complete / support work in Relativity in support of reviewers by recommending configuration / execution, improving search structures, finalizing production requirements, troubleshooting issues.
  • Ability to support the documentation and / or improvement of case management and operational processes, including identifying recurring issues and proposing alternative approaches for resolution of these issues.
  • Ability to ensure that all reporting and metrics data is kept up to date and / or submitted in a timely fashion.
  • Implement any required project standards, governance structure and/or audit mechanism. Implement project standards across all projects in the portfolio.
  • Contribute to program level Lessons Learned Repository, project and program review meetings, and program level risks and issues register.
Position Requirements


  • Must be a U. S. Citizen and possess, or be able to obtain/maintain, a Public Trust clearance.
  • Five years’ experience as a consultant, manager and/or program executive providing eDiscovery services within the designated geography.


Bachelor’s degree in Technology/Business/Technical.  Masters or JD Preferred (but not required).

Technical Skills Required:

  • A minimum of seven years of experience in the eDiscovery field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in the eDiscovery field as a Project or Case Manager with overall oversight of specific matters and managing other/teams to provide such services.
  • Understanding of the full EDRM/litigation lifecycle.
  • Experience providing end-to-end oversight of discovery matters and serving as a primary client point of contact.
  • Relativity Certified Administrator (RCA), or other review software certification(s), strongly preferred. 
  • Experience developing an operational plan for a matter for all phases of eDiscovery including collection, processing, review workflows, and production/export deliverables.
  • Expertise in defining, communicating, implementing and monitoring quality standards on all project deliverables.
  • Experience configuring Relativity workspaces to included: creating coding fields, event handlers, batch creation and workflow design and batching, search term report (STR) creation, and complex search creation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise fashion to technical and non-technical audiences (required).
  • Proven strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with business users, managers and non-technical staff.
  • Experience with preparing presentations, reports, tables, graphs, and observations for presentation to technical and non-technical audience (required).
  • Experience conducting training for eDiscovery tools and/or concepts – specifically, educating new users who are unfamiliar with Relativity as a review platform, both in group sessions and individually, both in person and via tools such as Webex.
  • Experience working in a Federal consulting / services delivery environment preferred.
  • Experience with managing multiple priorities and tight timelines.
  • Extensive PC skills including Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, Visio, Project, PowerPoint and SharePoint, SQL knowledge is preferred but not required.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, as needed, to include weekends, holidays, and off-hours.

Working Environment & Conditions

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The work load may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time.  The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.  The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
