Description

Provide clinical service and needed related services for clients who are requesting Catholic based counseling services. This position will be filled by a faithful Catholic who is fully qualified to provide outstanding clinical and related services, and who will, where appropriate, ground the interventions and desired outcomes in Catholic values, as expressed in Scripture, in the Catechism, and elsewhere in teachings of the Catholic Church. Will work, where appropriate, in a consultative relationship with a deacon and/or spiritual director to include Catholic spirituality in treating the whole person.

Responsibilities:

  • Will provide psychotherapy and counseling services to families, couples, children and their parents, and adult individuals.
  • Will carry a full caseload of clients (26-30 clients scheduled in a 40 hour week, including two evenings per week, with a goal of 26 client contact hours rendered weekly). Caseload numbers are subject to change with approval of Clinical Director.
  • This position will be filled by a faithful Catholic who is fully qualified to provide outstanding clinical and related services, and who will, where appropriate, ground the interventions and desired outcomes in Catholic values, as expressed in Scripture, in the Catechism, and elsewhere in teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Will work collaboratively, where appropriate, with a Deacon or spiritual director as appropriate to include Catholic spirituality in treating the whole person.
  • Will consult, where appropriate, with a Deacon or spiritual director for questions or guidance on the Catholic faith and spirituality as needed.
  • Will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and treatment plan goals and objectives within timeframes set by the policies and procedures of the Counseling Services Program.

Position Requirements

Minimum of a Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or related fields. Additional certification from a State-endorsed board (eg: CAADC certification for addictions/substance abuse work) is preferred and may be required. Minimum of one year’s experience providing psychotherapy, mental health or family counseling services to individuals and families. Preferred two years of post-graduate experience providing psychotherapy, mental health or family counseling services to individuals and families. Must have unrestricted licensure to practice in area of specialty through the State of Michigan in good standing or the necessary graduate/post-graduate experience that would qualify employee for State license at time of hire. Strong verbal and writing skills in English. Therapist must be a practicing Catholic with a clear understanding of Catholic teachings

  • Ability to stand and/or walk up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Work involves talking, stooping, squatting, twisting, climbing, kneeling, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to sit and use computer workstation, including keyboard and visual display terminal for extended periods of time.
  • Noise in the work environment is usually moderately quiet but can be very loud at times.
  • Work in an environment with various degrees of discomfort.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Emotionally able to work with information that may be traumatic in nature, as well as, work with individuals or families in crisis or experiencing trauma.
