Education Specialist 


Key Responsibilities

Provides to eligible consumers with severe and persistent mental illness, Supported Education services; assists consumers in the process of choosing an educational program and completing all of the necessary Admissions and Financial paperwork to enroll in an educational institution. Assures departmental goals and/or objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frame by performing the job responsibilities personally

  • Develops and implements an individualized education plan to assist consumer with his/her education goals
  • Conducts intake assessment, including education exploration with new consumers
  • Identifies potential education programs related to the consumer's specific needs
  • Provides support, training and technical assistance regarding accommodations that may be needed by the client
  • Attends all meeting, trainings, and events and participates, as required.
  • Coordinates and markets the program to the community
  • Documents all interactions with consumers in the client electronic record in accordance with Agency policy and procedures
  • Reports directly to Program Manager


  • BA/BS or AA accepted preferably in Rehabilitation, Psychology, or Social Work. Business or marketing experience helpful.
  • Knowledge and experience working with the target population of young adults with severe and persistent mental illness.
  • Experience with job coaching, supported education and/or vocational programs.
  • Strong written and oral communication and listening skills
  • Computer and organizational skills
  • A valid driver's license and must be insurable by agency's automobile insurance
