STR is seeking a Deputy Group Lead (DGL) for the computational research group in the cyber division. The DGL will help grow and manage a portfolio of advanced research and development programs in the fields of machine learning and graph analytics; programming languages and formal methods; and large-scale distributed software systems.

The Role:

  • Apply your creativity and technical expertise to develop and market new program concepts and solutions to emerging research and development opportunities
  • Establish strong relationships with customers and partners, building upon STR’s reputation for excellence and increasing our portfolio of exciting project work
  • Lead and contribute to technical proposals
  • Maintain high standards for delivering technical excellence and support the technical teams to consistently delivery on those standards
 
Position Requirements

Who You Are:

  • A US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Security Clearance
  • A mid-career, multi-disciplinary technical innovator with a minimum of an advanced degree (PhD preferred) in a scientific, engineering or mathematical discipline
  • Experience contributing to project marketing and proposal writing within the DoD or IC
  • Experience leading or managing complex, advanced R&D projects
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment to enable successful project execution
  • Able to build strong customer and industry partner relationships and establish open lines of communication
  • Motivated collaborator and effective communicator to both technical and non-technical audiences

Other Relevant Skills You May Have:

  • Experience spanning all project phases, from ideation to technology research and product development
  • Working knowledge of DOD R&D acquisition policy and processes
  • Technical breadth and a demonstrated ability to simultaneously oversee multiple diverse programs and teams.
  • Experience marketing and capturing new projects
