The Role: Develop, implement, and evaluate statistical machine learning and optimization algorithms to uncover hidden information and find patterns in a diverse collection of massive datasets Lead small research and development teams to design, develop, test, and integrate innovative prototypes Develop research concepts from proposal through to implementation and transition   Position Requirements Who You Are: A US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Security Clearance A mid- to senior-level researcher or a recent graduate with a PhD in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Data Science, or Physics Understanding of and experience with statistics, machine learning techniques, or modern optimization theory Proficiency with a scientific programming language such as Python, MATLAB, Java, or C++ Motivated collaborator and an excellent communicator to both technical and non-technical audiences Other Relevant Skills You May Have: Track record of developing, implementing, and evaluating statistical algorithms against real datasets Experience with deep learning and neural network training, testing, and evaluation Familiarity with convex optimization, combinatorial optimization, and approximate methods Specialized expertise in a data-rich field such as time-series analysis, graph analytics, geospatial analysis, image processing, or Bayesian programming Experience working with large datasets and familiarity with big data infrastructure, such as Hadoop, Spark, Dask, or MapReduce   About the Organization Systems & Technology Research (STR) is a rapidly growing technology company with locations north of Boston, MA, Arlington, VA and near Dayton, OH.
