STR performs advanced research and development for the US Government and select commercial customers. Distributed systems integration is emerging as a cross-cutting requirement for our customers, so we are seeking a Software Engineer who is familiar with cloud development, distributed systems on Linux, and/or databases.

The Role:

  • Work in small research and development teams to design, develop, test, and integrate innovative software prototypes
  • Span the stack or find a niche: from developing algorithms to automatically clean TBs of noisy data, to architecting a cloud-based data analytics platform with thousands of world-wide users, STR programs cover a broad territory.
 
Position Requirements

Who You Are:

  • A mid- to senior level software engineer with a minimum of a BS in Computer Science
  • Proficient in Python, or systems languages such as Rust, Go, or C/C++
  • Comfortable with relational and NoSQL databases
  • An enthusiast for automation in all its forms, from infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, Kubernetes, Ansible) to automated unit and integration tests (e.g., pytest, GitLab)
  • Motivated collaborator and effective communicator to both technical and non-technical audiences

Some Other Relevant Skills You May Have:

  • Experience with specific cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Experience building always-on, distributed systems
  • Knowledge of other databases and paradigms a plus (e.g., BigQuery, Postgres, Mongo, HBase, Redshift)
