The role of the Graphic Designer is primarily based in designing products and assisting his/her teammates. He/she is still developing abilities to manage large workloads and collect scope in a consulting manner. Responsible for mid to large sized efforts.


Graphic Designers work collaboratively with a team of other graphic designers, visual consultants, and management consultants to translate complex customer requirements into simple and elegant graphics and craft the overarching look and feel of client deliverables. Graphic Designers work with delivery teams and external clients to define visual design requirements and proactively consult on potential solutions.


This position involves project coordination and oversight, requiring a management approach that is both responsive and adaptive to support a high-volume, fast-paced work environment. As a result of producing exceptional work products and developing relationships, the Graphic Designer can help capture new leads and business opportunities.


All applicants are required to provide an online portfolio that displays a range of materials, technical capabilities, and design styles. Portfolios should include infographics, presentations, one-pagers, multi-page documents, and vector based imagery.


Position Requirements


  • Design, edit, and refine a full range of print and digital collateral, including, but not limited to: infographics and data visualization, presentations, electronic publications (including animated interactive PDFs), one-pagers, reports, marketing materials, and proposals

  • Work with other designers, management consultants, and external clients to develop conceptual designs, supporting an overall messaging strategy

  • Transform concepts and words into clear approaches and visual outputs

  • Productize assets for consultant and client use, to include document and presentation templates, graphic templates, and visual resource libraries

  • Participate in the development of proposals, marketing materials, and other internal design needs

  • Develop and maintain internal and external client relationships; Identify and support opportunities to expand project scope and actively share information about clients’ emerging support needs and trends with team members and management

  • Foster a positive and productive work environment

  • Orchestrate projects, working with consultants and team members to define scope, build out schedules, delegate tasks, monitor progress and ensure quality control

  • Raise and enforce standards for quality, professionalism, and creativity within and outside of the team

  • Maintain and increase client satisfaction through tailored customer service, high-quality deliverables, responsive communications, and quick turn-arounds

  • Assist in the administration and development of team processes and best practices

  • Deliver work on time, within budget, and to requested specifications; deliver error proof files at the completion of a project

  • Train and mentor creative team members on design fundamentals and software

  • Other duties as assigned


  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant design experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (graphic design, computer graphics, and/or information graphics)

  • Advanced knowledge of visual design principles including graphic design, layout, typography, color, flow, and hierarchy, and corporate identity

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop),Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Powerpoint), Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides)

  • Proven experience with conceptual design; logo, presentation, and infographic development; branding and marketing graphic development

  • Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance

  • Willingness and ability to travel to client sites in the surrounding DC and Baltimore metro areas; occasional travel outside of these regions could be expected (5%)



  • Proven experience managing multiple, small projects at once, with competing deadlines

  • Proven ability to adapt quickly to emerging requirements and prioritize as appropriate; comfortable working through times of ambiguity and in an environment of rapid growth

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to strategically and effectively present creative work and reasoning

  • Ability to learn and understand complex issues quickly and recommend and apply creativity and problem-solving skills to design solutions

  • Strong time management and organization skills, deadline and detail-oriented, and willing to take in accountability for project outcomes

  • Ability to take and apply feedback and creative direction from stakeholders, project leads, and internal team members in service of advancing his/her work.

  • Strong command of current design trends with a curiosity for new techniques and fresh approaches

  • Bonus points for:

      • Experience with 508c compliance

      • Familiarity with animation software such as After Effects and/or web design tools such as Sketch and Invision

      • Basic coding knowledge of HTML, CSS, and IOS

      • Photography/videography skills

      • Graphic recording skills

  • Willingness and ability to offer teammates constructive and positive feedback in service of developing internal design capacity (team members and quality of work)
