Geneva College invites applications for a part-time instructor to teach accounting courses in its associates degree program on the campus of Eastern Christian High School located at 50 Oakwood Avenue, North Haledon, NJ. The anticipated start date is August 31, 2020. The position will remain open until filled. Minority and female applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.

 

JOB SUMMARY: Geneva College invites applications for a part-time instructor in accounting. The selected candidate will teach one or two courses each semester on weekday afternoons or evenings or on Saturday.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

High quality, effective instruction; relevant assignments; fair and holistic assessment of learning; and clear documentation of student progress.

Selected Candidates will be Expected to:

  • Teach assigned courses
  • Follow best practices for effective instruction and class management
  • Integrate their Christian faith into the course
  • Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons (Preparation time will vary based on instructor experience in teaching a given course.)
  • Provide each student with clear course expectations, evaluations, and timelines through carefully-written topical outlines and an approved, standardized syllabus
  • Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus
  • Provide interesting and relevant assignments that provide students with opportunities to demonstrate their mastery of learning outcomes
  • Suitably challenge, engage, serve, and communicate with students to encourage their participation and learning while maintaining mutual value and respect
  • Respond to student questions in a timely manner
  • Return student assessments and submit final grade reports in a timely manner

PERSONAL QUALITIES:

Christian Commitment: The successful candidate must be a thoughtful and articulate Christian and an active member of a Protestant evangelical church. Preference will be given to candidates who support and have an articulate understanding of the Reformed faith.  The individual must understand and support the College’s “Foundational Concepts of Christian Education” by expressing an evangelical Christian profession of faith and demonstrate the ability to integrate a Christian perspective in their work.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

Candidates must have a conferred masters in accountancy degree or an MBA plus the CPA or CMA. Previous higher education teaching experience is preferred, but not required.
