The National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) is a not-for-profit, independent certification organization whose primary purposes are to establish and monitor a national certification system and to identify those counselors who have voluntarily sought and obtained board certification. NBCC and Affiliates has operations and partnerships in 40 countries providing certification, training programs and public mental health services through institutes and residencies. Over 66,000 Board Certified Counselors serve the public and advance mental health efforts across the globe. With a portfolio of nine credentials related to professional counseling, mental health, addictions, human services, and career development, NBCC and Affiliates seeks to expand the professional capacity of counselors and human service professionals. NBCC is focused specifically on credentialing, certification and quality assurance, while CCE focuses on providing education and training opportunities and leveraging credentials to best serve communities. Additionally, CCE provides organizational management services for associations, boards, and other management clients. The NBCC Foundation engages in capacity building, seeking to expand access to mental health services in underserved and never-served communities and increase the accessibility of high-quality professional development resources for counselors.


Coordinates administration of CPCE program related activities. The program coordinator must manage all processes and tasks of the program. Position requires strong attention to detail and clear, detailed, and concise written and verbal communication with professionals. 

The following responsibilities and duties are a summary of the essential roles and functions of the position. Other duties may be performed as needed or requested to achieve departmental, divisional and/or organizational goals.     

  • Communicates with examinees, university Program Coordinators and other professionals via letter, telephone, or email.
  •  Refers cases requiring a possible appeal and decision to management.
  •  Works with internal departments, contracted vendors, examinees as well as program partners to coordinate program activities.
  •  Contributes content regarding assigned programs to relevant publications.
  •  Maintains program database and generates reports.
  •  Manage the logistics of examination administrations including but not limited to facilitating webinars, monitoring permissions for  proctors, overseeing administration requests, exporting candidates to Pearson VUE for testing, providing technical support, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.







Position Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 3 years of related experience and/or training preferred

Language Ability:

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos

  • Ability to write correspondence

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of NBCC and its affiliates

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required

Math Ability:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs

Computer Skills

  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook, as well as Piktochart, Prezi, InFormz, GoToWebinar, on-line application portals, and Adobe Acrobat.

Additional Skills

  • Ability to pay close attention to detail for accuracy and thoroughness in completing work

  • Ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish work
