Share Email Opening Title Technical Services Technician  Description Position reports to the Technical Services Director. Responsible for installation and maintenance of single phase and poly-phase meters to include meter testing and calibration, database management, current transformer and potential transformer testing/wiring. Responsible for construction and installation of aerial and underground fiber optic cabling utilizing bucket trucks, trenchers, hand tools, etc. Responsible for installation, splicing connectorization, maintenance and repair of various fiber optic network s utilizing OTDR, fusion splicer and optical light meters, etc. Responsible for Siemens PBX operation to include maintenance of database, installation of new phone extensions, moves of phone extensions, etc. Responsible for installation, provisioning, testing and troubleshooting of various TDM and Ethernet telecom data circuits such as T-1, DS3, 10/100Mbs, GigE and Nortel platforms. Works in conjunction with Network Operations Center to maintain system integrity and connectivity. Responsible for installation, provisioning, testing and troubleshooting of LAN applications to include all network cabling, racking, terminations and provisioning. Responsible for installation, provisioning, testing and troubleshooting of video conferencing network for IDL (Interactive Distance Learning) applications. Responsible for operation and provisioning of AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) / Smart Metering system and devices. Completes and maintains appropriate and accurate work orders, logs, reports and documentation of daily activity. Responsible for installation and maintenance of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system. This includes but not limited to Remote Terminal Units and all peripheral devices interfacing to the various systems of electric, gas, water, sewer, waste water, network management and security applications. Responsible for installation and maintenance of traffic control systems to include controllers, traffic heads, loop detectors, peripheral devices, etc. Creates a safe work environment for self, co-workers and general public while maintaining the highest quality of customer service possible. Observes and practices all safety rules and regulations set forth by Thomasville Utilities. Maintains vehicle, tools and equipment in a safe, clean working condition.   Position Requirements High school graduate or equivalent required. Degree in electricity, electronics or related field is preferred. Must have at least 3 years related experience. Must be able to perform assigned duties with or without accommodation relating to prolonged and arduous work under adverse conditions Good written and oral communication skills a must. Computer / PC knowledge, familiar with MS Office Suite required.   Physical/Environmental Requirements The primary work environment of this position is in field, the candidate will be exposed to extreme weather conditions and will be on occasion required to perform manual tasks.
