Description

SUMMARY:

This position performs precision inspections on a variety of components, subassemblies and finished product using customer specifications, military specifications and industry standard specifics along with standard and special purpose measuring tools, instruments and equipment.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards
  • Conducts tests during manufacturing processes or prior to final inspection/acceptance to ensure that products comply with quality standards, internal test plans and defined customer requirements.
  • Performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life or material characteristics
  • Selects products for inspection at specified stages in production process, and inspects products for a variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance and mechanical, electrical or chemical characteristics
  • Evaluates data to validate or indicate deviations from standards
  • Records variable data and test results in ERP System
  • Performs inspections to the existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality
  • Inspects material or product by performing dimensional inspection using hand gaging and electronic measurement equipment and visual inspections using blueprints, schematics, quality specifications/quality plans and approved samples to ensure product quality
  • Creates and maintains accurate inspection records of work performed
  • Recognizes and takes action to correct apparent discrepancies in specifications and procedures
  • Determines the method and process needed to measure blueprint conformance on parts according to tolerances and normal gauge practices
  • Contains non-conforming parts for further disposition at the MRB process
  • Documents and reports non-conformance to specifications in computerized quality documentation system and maintains parts disposition in MRB
  • Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Adheres to all quality and safety standards
  • Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with two year technical degree preferred, ASQ Certification desired

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER JOB-RELATED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to speak, read and understand English
  • Experience in the use of inspection equipment including but not limited to calipers, micrometers and height gages
  • Experience in First Article and First Piece inspection process
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, ISO 9001-2008
  • Knowledge of ANSI Y 14.5 sample plans
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work a varied schedule, willing to work overtime when necessary
  • Experience in ERP systems, SAP desired
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with employees and managers at all levels within the company
  • Possesses strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office)
  • Goal oriented and team focused to ensure completion of projects in a timely manner
