Lifeline Ambulance, Inc. is seeking seasonal, on-call positions for upcoming 2020 wildland fire season. We are looking for experienced Paramedics and EMTs, who are committed to excellence and providing for the health and safety of wildland firefighters under difficult conditions.

Wildland Paramedics and EMTs will work as part of a team of medical professionals either as a single resource, on an ambulance crew, or a specialty team. You will be providing medical care in hazardous areas during wildland fires. Typical season starts in late June and can go until the end of October.

This is a seasonal, on-call position with fantastic pay! Most deployments are for up to 14 days on assignment. Travel is required. All candidates must be able to attend a one-week onsite orientation pending current events. You may be eligible for additional wildland certification training.

Starting pay range is $19-$25/hour ($400- $600.00 per day) DOE.

Duties & Requirements

  • Assume responsibility for EMS scene in the absence of higher level staff; provide direction and supervision to other employees at an emergency medical scene; provide and direct patient care and transport.
  • Effectively problem-solve with co-workers and adapt to changing, dynamic, and stressful situations while maintaining a collaborative, reasoned and cohesive team culture.
  • Report verbally and in writing (e.g. electronically) observations and emergency medical care of the patient at the emergency scene, in transit and to the receiving medical facility staff for purposes of records and diagnostics.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient and company information.
  • Work long hours while maintaining a professional attitude.
  • Operate and maintain emergency medical apparatus, off road (side-by-side) apparatus, and equipment.
  • Ability to deploy in emergent situations in as little as one (1) hour.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 100lbs.
  • Ability to pass Washington State drivers check and a drug urinalysis.

Education/Experience:

  • High school graduate or GED
  • EMT-Paramedic experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to interpret local ALS protocols, company policies and procedures, and apply them in specific situations.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Active Washington State or National Registry EMT/Paramedic Certification in good standing with Medical Program Director.
  • Current AHA health care provider CPR
  • ICS 100,200,700
  • Firefighter Training S-130
  • Introduction to Wildland Fire S-190
  • Annual Fireline Safety Refresher RT-130
  • Maintain/possess current driver’s license

Additional Wildland Certifications (preferred but not required):

  • ACLS, PALS, PHTLS
  • Human Factors in the Wildland Fire Service L-180
  • Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior S-290
  • Basic Air Operations S-270
  • Helicopter Crewmember S-271

Physical Requirements

This is a physically demanding job requiring, walking, sitting, standing, reaching, bending, twisting/turning, manual dexterity, frequent lifting and use of keyboard and hand/eye coordination.

  • Must be in a physical condition that allows you to hike over varying terrain with elevation changes with medical supplies backpack for up to 16 hours per day in extreme heat.
  • The Work Capacity Fitness Test (WCFT) is required for all Wildland firefighters. The WCFT consist of a three mile walk with a 45lb pack vest, completed in less than 45 minutes.
