Share Email Opening Title System Administrator/Database Administrator  Category Other   Description The System Administrator/Database Administrator is responsible for administrating, maintaining, developing and implementing policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of systems, servers, and databases. Additional Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited To: Responsibilities also include installing new software releases and system upgrades. Evaluating and installing patches and resolving software related problems. Implementing data models and database designs, data access and table maintenance codes. Resolving database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues, including assistance in resolving backup issues. System and database administration will primarily be accomplished on servers supporting the application development function, therefore, it is critical that the candidate be capable of learning and understanding how the internal-developed and commercial applications interact with the operating system and database to ensure proper integration, and to ensure upgrades and patching of the O/S and software applications are accomplished in a way to avoid or minimize disruption to application function and operation. Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within systems administration and database administration. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals in a development and production environment. Works under general supervision; typically reports to a manager. A high degree of creativity and latitude is required. Must adhere to security standards regarding For Official Use Only (FOUO) data, Personal Identifiable Information (PII) data, as well as DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) as software/db are developed and deployed. Assist with proposal development, if necessary.
