Description

*This is a Position with HSE's sister company; Industrial Paramedics Services Ltd.

Job Summary:

  • Collaborate with team for health promotion activities and programs, and complete presentations to site staff on health-related topics.
  • Educate and counsel patients on their health conditions and utilize evidence-based practice.
  • Administer nursing care to ill or injured patients within the workplace.
  • Assess and diagnose patients in urgent and non-urgent settings
  • Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Act in compliance with set Health & Safety standards and regulations
  • Assist in the investigation of accidents or incidents when required
  • Provide support when meeting with clients, ensure follow-up with field personnel regarding job performance issues
  • Maintain open and clear communication between management, dispatch and clinic staff.
  • Statistical data generation for weekly, quarterly and annual reports
  • Participates in educational development and the development of clinic policy and procedures
  • Conduct alcohol and drug testing and respirator fit testing
  • Consult and coordinate with health care team members on-site and on-call Medical Director to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans
  • Maintain accurate, detailed reports and patient records
  • Perform competent nursing care within scope of practice identified by CARNA standards.
  • Plans and implements health promotion initiatives on-site
  • Primary assessment, treatment, follow up and referral for medical care and emergent care associated with occupational and non- occupational injuries and illnesses

Assist to train new hires, coordinate on-the-job mentoring and coaching as needed

Required Qualifications/Education:

  • CSO, H2S Alive
  • BLS, ACLS, ITLS
  • BScN preferred
  • Nurse Practitioner in good standing with CARNA

Experience:

  • Experience with health promotion program development is an asset
  • Experience presenting health information to large groups is an asset
  • Understanding of Cority or other electronic charting is an asset
  • Experience with MS Office Suite
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Demonstrative of a desire for continued learning and personal development and growth
  • Preference will be given to those who meet the above educational requirements and who possess 5 to 7 years' experience as a medical professional in the oilfield industry or with experience in emergency, acute care, ICU environments

Working Conditions:

  • Work schedule 12 hour day shifts; 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off
  • Remote oilfield clinic
  • May be required to be on-call dependent on the medical situation

Position Requirements
  • Certification as a Registered Nurse and licensed through the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) provider cards
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
