Technical Program Manager (Sacramento OR SF/Bay Area)

POSITION SUMMARY: BASIC FUNCTION

The Technical Program Manager will provide a focus on the development and delivery of various project related deliverables on customer projects and initiatives. The Technical Program Manager will work closely with customer stakeholders and related internal NTT support teams such as, but not limited to, Data Center Facility Operations, Service Delivery and Critical Facilities Engineering & Design to determine project deliverables.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates expert understanding of data center design concepts and differentiators (high dense cooling, maintainable fault tolerant power, security redundancy, etc.)
  • Collaborates with customer and internal NTT teams to assist in determining customer requirements. Travels as needed for customer meetings.
    • Participates in all aspects of post contractual client facing interactions to determine deliverables to ensure customer success.
    • Gathers and fully understands all client requirements and specifications once a contract is executed.
    • Works with client, vendors and contractors to provide turn-key solutions at the wholesale level.
    • Responsible for the development, tracking, and communicating status of projects.
  • Develops and documents comprehensive scope of work (SOW) documents, bill of material (BOM), milestones, tasks, risks, assumptions, objectives and dependencies relating to projects in support of the customer.
  • Delivers projects on time.
  • Works with internal and external technical staff to ensure test plans have been completed and deployments undergo the proper Q/A process.
  • Uses Microsoft Project or equivalent tool to document, schedule, track and report on the various projects.
  • Recommends appropriate process and procedure revisions as needed to focus on continuous improvement.
  • Documents, publishes and tracks action items, owners, and due dates.
  • Escalates team and client issues to management as appropriate.
  • Coordinates and responds to requests for changes from original specifications.
  • Tracks and reports on quality assurance metrics.
  • Adheres to pre-defined departmental objectives and metrics to provide high level of customer service.
  • Supports strategic departmental objectives.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong experience working with large, global and hyper-scale customer base
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project), MS Visio and CAD
  • Deep knowledge of IT and data center infrastructure
  • Knowledge of data center infrastructure design standards
  • Experience in working with technical teams such as Operations and Engineering in a critical facilities environment.
  • Possess excellent problem solving, critical thinking and interpersonal skills
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess excellent customer service skills
  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Ability to function in a process-driven, high criticality environment

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and/or work experience required.
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in industry or relevant experience in data centers or critical environments.
  • PMP certification preferred.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.
  • Extensive walking of data center facilities and areas under construction.
  • Primarily sitting with periodically standing, walking, bending when creating, implementing, and checking on deployment projects.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

 

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Data Center environment, which may be under construction for client builds, and subject to loud noises.
  • Typical office environment.
  • Daily usage of a computer and/or workstation keyboards and terminals.
  • Telecommuting may be permitted with regular business hours availability if not local to RagingWire site. Must be available to meet in person with client as needed and attend company/department meetings as required.

 

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regular travel to company locations throughout the US and customer or vendor sites approximately 50% of the time. Additional travel may be required based on project load.
  • Must be able to respond to emergency situations at the data center.
  • Responsible to carry a cell phone and provide 24 x 7 support as needed.
  • Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays.
