Share Email Opening Title Director - Technical Operations (Sacramento OR SF/Bay Area)  Description POSITION SUMMARY: BASIC FUNCTION The Director of Technical Operations leads a group that provides engineering level support to the Data Center Operations Team. This group is responsible for assisting Data Center Facility Operations with advanced technical topics and issues, providing pre- and post-Sales support when needed, assisting with facility optimization and efficiency plans, and interfacing with other technical teams within the organization on initiatives and projects. The ideal candidate will be a creative problem solver with excellent communication skills and attention to detail while maintaining high quality standards with careful consideration of cost and feasibility factors. This person should possess engineering judgment to meet project requirements and objectives and be able to work well with a diverse interdisciplinary team focused on creating and maintaining the best Data Center environments possible. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Group leadership/supervision role for investigating new products and methods for data center operation and maintenance. Provide and oversee direct technical support to Critical Facilities Operations team for advanced technical issues such as root cause analysis of major system failures. Provide and technical support for new sales opportunities with non-standard requirements or conditions. Interface with external engineering teams to establish scopes of work and to monitor performance Participate in customer meetings to interface with customer engineering teams. Provide and oversee Engineering support for capital improvement and efficiency projects. Provide input to technical standards and process development. Provide feedback to Critical Facilities Engineering & Design team for design improvements based on operational experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Skill to supervise and train engineers and technical professionals In depth knowledge of critical data center equipment and designs Ability to develop creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs with no impact on quality and reliability Familiar with life cycle cost analyses. Ability to develop Total Cost of Ownership reports for procurement analysis, personnel and project budgeting processes Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and management skills Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, drafting software (ACAD and/or Revit).
