SUMMARY

 

This position is responsible for providing assistance to the Credit Administration Officer related to loan origination and portfolio management activities, ensuring the lending processes and lending personnel activities are aligned and in accordance with Sterling Bank & Trust's policies and procedures. The Credit Analyst Manager is responsible for managing a team of Credit Analysts staff in the preparation and review of the loan approval document (LAR) for final presentation of a credit decision. Providing confirmation that the LAR accurately identifies strengths and weaknesses, assesses an adequate risk rating recommendation, and notates any deviations from the Commercial Loan Policy as appropriate. Additional responsibilities will include interaction with Loan Officers to facilitate the collection of information and providing full-service credit analysis of a variety of loan types (Construction, CRE, C&I, land development, etc).

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Individually and with a team of Credit Analysts, prepares, reviews and ensures written analyses for proposed and existing clients are provided in a professional and accurate manner to include the following:

    • credit investigation of the borrower and guarantors;

    • economic and market conditions as they relate to the company, industry, property type, and market area;

    • in-depth historical financial analysis, including communicating with the Loan Officer, client/accountant to gain a better understanding of the company’s accounting practices;

    • in-depth projection financial analysis, including the performance of “what if” scenarios that test the reasonableness of the projections;

    • in-depth analysis of the secondary sources of repayment such as collateral;

    • in-depth analysis of a guarantor’s financial position;

    • strengths and weaknesses.

  • Ensures that work is assigned and completed accurately and on time.

  • Supervises and provides leadership, coaching, guidance, training and staff development for of team of Credit Analysts.

  • Prepares internal asset reviews of existing borrowers for quarterly management review.

  • Prepares periodic review documents for existing loans to assess and monitor credit quality and covenant compliance.

  • Receives, assigns, and reviews financial information provided by customers, recommending actions for loans experiencing elevated credit risk.

  • Assist Loan Officers to ensure customers are being serviced as needed.

  • Assist with implementation of processes to assist in making sound credit decisions.

  • Special projects and other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field, or six or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 7 or more years’ experience in commercial banking credit analysis and at least 2 years of supervisory experience.

  • Strong financial analysis skills, capable of interpreting and analyzing data utilizing advanced reasoning skills, assessing problematic issues and trends.

  • Effective time management, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced team deadline-driven environment.

  • Proven ability to build, motivate and manage a team.

  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of internal and external customers.

  • Excellent PC skills, including word processing and spreadsheets via Microsoft Office products as well as custom applications and systems (Baker Hill Exception Advisor).

  • Must be self-motivated with strong initiative, accountability, and attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Requires a detail oriented, analytical, customer service driven individual
