Job Overview/Summary

As an Senior Product Developer in Better Health VMIS Process/ PRD, you will bring technical and innovation leadership to our gummy products across formulation and process development.
Leveraging consumer insights, technical depth, and passion for innovation, you will lead the discovery and innovation programs to create a pipeline of gummy formulation innovation, product improvements, and cost savings. We are seeking an individual excited to explore new arenas for gummies, materials to open our toolbox, and willing to dive in to the processing and manufacturing methods for fresh insights. The role will be process formulation and process development innovation focused, with opportunities in the front end ranging from the identification of material handling drill sites, to the creation of prototype products for Discovery programs, to engaging PSO for new, flexible, manufacturing technology evolutions. A successful individual will embrace the full, fun and challenging, process of bringing our gummy pipeline to life and helping our consumers lead a healthier life.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the VMS gummy innovation pipeline by identifying and adapt new gummy technologies, formulas and processes for the support of Better Health VMS businesses.  Develop and create prototypes for functional and aesthetics improvement and delivery.
  • Demonstrate a clear technology to application mindset to drive technology development. Develop and drive expert knowledge of emerging technologies, trends, new products to drive gummy product innovation. 
  • Effectively develop and leverage internal and external networks that will assist in building knowledge, solving problems, and delivering performance results.  Utilize technical skills to successfully translate consumer needs to robust technical approaches and apply known technology from inside and outside sources to deliver superior gummy solutions.
  • Use a hands-on, "love the lab" approach to create prototypes for early iteration with consumers. Leverage your deep scientific understanding of packaging technologies and assess their relevance and utility to our consumers, customers, and the environment.  Develop best practices and drive continuous improvement in innovation and technology throughout Research and Development

 

Key Skills, Abilities and Experience Required

  • Bachelors of Science from an accredited institution in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science or equivalent.
  • 7 years of gummy formulation and processing or equivalent relevant experience
  • Deep understanding of gummy or confectionery technology, including gelatin, pectin or agar
  • Proven ability to influence manufacturing.
  • 2-3 years of experience on the  front end of of the innovation process
  • Demonstrated new products innovation and commercialization experience, including:
  • Ability to work within ambiguity, and enable that ability in others.
  • Comfortable in taking & managing risk
  • Demonstrated creativity and passion for the consumer 
  • The cross-functional seams of innovation & consumer products,
  • Leveraging innovation to create a compelling consumer, and customer business strategy
  • Demonstrated effectiveness  at communicating  and influencing across functional,  technical  and organizational boundaries
  • High energy, positive drive, and commitment in setting and meeting aggressive goals and enjoy working in a variety of cultures and settings.
  • Demonstration of strong leadership, technical, communication and teamwork skills.
  • A passion for nature and the environment and an ability to convert that passion into meaningful business results

 

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree, College Diploma, or Equivalent (Required)
