Aircraft Paint and Composites Technician 

Description

Job Summary: This position is responsible for painting aircraft items (mostly parts and subassemblies), completing composite materials repairs, building new composite components using resin injection or open-mold layups (training provided as needed.)

Essential Functions:

Disassemble and clean simple and complex aircraft items as required.

Chemically strip items as needed.

Prep items to be painted.

Media blast items as needed.

Grinding, sanding, patching, applying filler to composite parts.

Fabricate composite components that conform to company drawings and procedures.

Perform visual inspections during painting, fabrication, repair and assembly of items of items for quality and conformity.

Mixing paint/composite related chemicals with exacting measurements.

Paint items as required using paint sprayer equipment in a painter suit wearing an approved respirator.

Maintain a clean work environment.

Maintain ability to be respirator fit tested (no beards).

Conform to and comply with industry safety standards.

Safely and accurately utilize a variety of hand tools.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Technicians report to their respective Lead and are ultimately responsible to the Director of Maintenance and Chief Inspectors. 

 
Position Requirements

 Job Qualifications:

1-2 years experience preferred.

Must be able to read and write English and be able to comprehend and apply information contained in technical manuals.

Must be able to document maintenance/fabrication performed on required forms by writing and/or typing it into a computer.

Must own their own set of tools. Minimum tool list will be provided upon request. (Paint equipment is supplied)

Must be detail oriented.

Willing to work alone.

Must be self-motivated.

Must pass a pre-employment DOT Drug testing.

Be authorized to work in the USA.

Live within 30 miles of Bemidji MN.

Desired Education and Experience:  Auto body type schooling or on the job training in a related field.

Environment: Indoor shop environment subject to frequent interruptions, hanger door open and closing for moving aircraft, Occasional working outside will be required, changing priorities from time to time. Shop Location-Bemidji, MN.

Physical Demands: Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of standard equipment. Reaching overhead, crouching, kneeling, bending, standing, climbing, and walking will be required. Clarity of vision at varying distances. Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner. Must meet the physical requirements which qualify a person to perform essential job functions including the ability to lift at least 70 pounds.  All above items with or without accommodation.
