Utilities Systems Administrator Apprentice 

Description

To assist in managing, administering, developing and maintaining all critical utility applications. These systems include: SCADA System and sub-systems, Tantalus AMI (TUNET), MDMS application Electsolve, Read Center (manages water and gas interval data), Route Manager, UBILL application interfaces, Milsoft OMS DisPatch, Porche IVR, Porche Texting gateway along with future applications and ever evolving interfaces.

Assists in completion of projects in coordination with TS Director

Performs system administration tasks for ongoing operations on all servers related to utility applications, particularly all metered services.

Provides advanced system administration for line of utility applications (SCADA, OMS, TU Net, Read Center, Route Manager, Electsolve, etc).

Ensures efficient and effective data backup of all servers.

Assists with plannning for future expansion and coordinate with I.S. Manager on network growth and resource utilization.

Maintains maps and other network topology documentation.

Administers SCADA, OMS, IVR, TU Net, Read Center, Electsolve, LOB applications, SQL and Oracle Databases along with other Windows and UNIX/LINUX applications and services.

Maintain maintenance and change management logs.

Monitor security warnings and take action to ensure security on all systems.

Monitor event logs for errors on all servers and implement corrective action.

Initiate actions necessary to repair/replace defective equipment and software.

Troubleshoot network problems.

Evaluate new products.

 
Position Requirements

AS or AAS degree in Electronics, Computer Systems, or equivalent and 2 years hands on systems experience is preferred.

Must have Applications and Command Line experience in Windows and Unix/Linux or be able to obtain and show proficiency within 12 months in position.

Must have the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.

Must possess good oral/written communication skills.

Ability to adapt to frequently changing priorities and tasks and be able to maintain multiple projects or objectives simultaneously.
