Media Production Coordinator, Academy Museum 

Description

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures will be the world’s premier institution dedicated to the art and science of movies. Located at Wilshire and Fairfax in Los Angeles, the Museum will be simultaneously immersive, experimental, educational, and entertaining. More than a museum, this dynamic film center will offer unparalleled experiences and insights into movies and movie-making.

The Media Production Coordinator is a full-time temporary assignment expected to end around November 2020.

You Will:

  • Report to Media Production Manager and help schedule creation of media montages, edit sessions, and color grading with contracted personnel and third-party vendors.
  • Carefully catalogue and track potential moving and still image sources for media sources.
  • Work with curatorial, programs, interactive, and other staff to assemble film and video footage, montages, clips, and images.
  • Together with rights clearance staff, identify and catalogue film clips and media sources for license agreements.
  • Inspect, identify, and track incoming and outgoing film and video elements for quality and content.
  • Help oversee production of final montages, clips, and other media sources required for exhibitions, projects, and programs at the museum with internal sources or outside vendors.
  • Oversee editing sessions with third-party vendors, focusing on quality and accuracy to maintain curatorial vision.
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • 2+ years’ experience with digital image files.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in film studies or related field.
  • Experience with digital image file and computer editing software preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of the media production process.
  • Proficiency working in Premier Pro, Photoshop, Media Encoder, Final Cut Pro, and other Adobe Creative Could software.
  • Knowledge of digital file formats, codecs, and methods of delivery. Experience with file organization and disc space management.
  • Experience operating film handling viewing equipment.
  • Experience using standard computer word processing and database software.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with Academy staff, donors, vendors, maintenance technicians, and visitors.
  • Basic knowledge of film history and video and film technologies.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
