Description

SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for establishing a corporate quality assurance system and team that promotes customer satisfaction and that positively impacts the financial performance of HDT. Champions continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives to establish an effective Quality Management System (QMS).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, implements, manages and integrates a QMS for all manufacturing facilities
  • Educates and trains employees as to their impact in the quality management system
  • Serves as the primary quality control resource for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement
  • Establishes and implements metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring system effectiveness and to enable managers to make sound product quality decisions
  • Supports product engineering efforts by participating in design development projects representing quality assurance and the customer
  • Leads the implementation and documentation of procedures for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection
  • Leads root-cause analysis and other problem solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements
  • Establishes collection and analysis systems of statistical data to predict trends that will affect improvement of product quality
  • Analyzes customers’ product specifications to establish efficient, cost-effective requirements for ease of manufacture and reproducibility
  • Leads the development of process certification standards and assist in process certification
  • Directs the activities for maintaining for each manufacturing facility’s ISO certification
  • Reviews customer purchase orders, contracts and change requests and ensure that the necessary criteria and provisions are included in quality and process plans
  • Interfaces with Government Quality Inspectors to ensure government quality requirements are achieved
  • Interacts with customers to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback with manufacturing and development personnel
  • Champion Quality support to New Product Development activities in an integrated product team environment including process control for final product launch activities
  • Oversees calibration and testing programs
  • Reports to management on quality issues, trends and losses
  • Reviews suppliers purchase orders and establish supplier quality requirements
  • Directs internal and external quality audits
  • Manages quality control personnel on a day-to-day basis
  • Interfaces with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality control and assure that effective corrective action is implemented
  • Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Adheres to all quality and safety standards
  • Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned
 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE/OTHER DUTIES:

  • Bachelor’s in Quality, Technical or Manufacturing or related field preferred

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 7 years related quality management experience required; minimum of 5 years of supervisory/managerial experience
  • Working knowledge of engineering principles and ability to apply them to inspection activities
  • Experience with developing/documenting procedures for ISO compliance program
  • Experience in federal government contracting/ subcontracting desirable; Lean Manufacturing preferred
  • Experience in internal/external audit programs and procedures is required

OTHER JOB RELATED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Quality orientation and high attention to detail; problem analysis and problem resolution skills
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with customers, vendors, employees and managers at all levels within the company
  • Possesses strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office)
  • Experience with ERP systems required, SAP operating system preferred
  • Some travel to HDT production facilities and vendors is necessary when required
