The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures furthers the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, and collections. Welcoming visitors from Los Angeles and around the world, the Museum works in active partnership with motion picture artists and specialists, scholars, staff, and diverse communities to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema, inspiring discourse, connection, joy, and discovery.

Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Maintenance, the Maintenance Technician will perform general repair and maintenance of building equipment and the facility. You will also work a variety of tasks that require knowledge of safe work practices.

You Will:

  • Perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Follow standard operating procedures for safe work practices.
  • Use CMMS to help manage work orders, assets, and inventory.
  • Perform general labor, such as carrying, stacking, and sorting of materials used in and around the job site, and debris removal.
  • Patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
  • Clean drains, job site and equipment.
  • Repair or replace sinks, faucets, toilets, and soap dispensers.
  • Replace lamps and clean light fixtures.
  • Paint structures and equipment.
  • Repair damaged wall panels, ceiling tiles, furniture, carpet tiles, and floor tiles.
  • Maintain, adjust, and repair doors, door hardware, doorknobs, and related items.
  • Perform maintenance-person work requiring the use of hand tools and power tools.
  • Actively respond to inquiries and requests.
  • Assist with grounds and set-up services responsibilities.
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent certificate of completion.
  • 2+ years of work experience in general building maintenance.
  • CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) experience is a plus.
  • Experience using hand and power tools, along with specialized equipment used in electrical, plumbing or general carpentry.
  • Effective communication skills to build strong working relationships with staff, customers and others.

Physical Requirements:

  • Maneuver to and around equipment.
  • Stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, and reach.
  • Lift boxes or equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Climb ladders or step stools.
  • Work from motorized platforms.
