Job Summary:

As a Diesel & Gas Fleet Mechanic your primary responsibilities are to perform maintenance, run diagnostics, and repair a variety of diesel vehicles, on and off-road mining equipment and on road dump trucks and concrete mixers trucks.

• Diagnose and repair all types of gas and diesel equipment, including, but not limited to, excavators, dozers, off-road trucks, wheel loaders, water & lube trucks, service trucks, pickups, dump trucks/trailers, mixer trucks, and other support equipment
• Troubleshoot, repair and replace ingnition systems, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, lighting systems, electrical/computer control systems, radio systems and ABS brake system
• Perform welding and fabrication on mobile and stationary plant equipment as needed
• Check, prioritize and repair equipment write-ups based on safety issues, customer service issues, PM issues and less critical issues
• Repair and maintain shop tools and machinery
• Make field and emergency repairs as needed
• Safely perform repairs in the field


Position Requirements

• Minimum 1 to 3 years of mechanical experience working on commercial vehicles
• Must have own tools
• Driver's License with a clean driving record
• Able to work cooperatively with others
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to speak, read and write in English
• Able to communicate in a professional manner with other mechanics, drivers, dispatch, and management
• Work varying work shifts with varying start and stop times including weekends
• Overtime work is required when needed by the company
• Efficient time management
• Motions: climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, twisting, pushing, pulling, frequent lifting of 50 pounds, occasional lifting of 75 to 100 pounds, stretching, driving/sitting, using pneumatic and power tools
• Ability to work safely; follow all CalPortland, OSHA and MSHA rules as appropriate
• Ability to work in extremes of hot and cold weather and wet environments
• Steel toe boots are required; ANSI approved PPE will be provided and must be used when required
• Position is subject to safety sensitive random drug and alcohol testing per company policy
• New hires will be required to pass a pre-employment physical and must test negative on a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen upon offer of employment

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

• Current Commercial Driver's License
• Computer skills

Conditions of Employment:
Successful candidate must submit to post offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
