Senior Digital Imaging Technician 


Reporting to the Head of Core Collection Reference Files, the Senior Digital Imaging Technician is responsible for microfiching and scanning content from the core collection clipping files. Supervising a Microfilm Technician, you will oversee a transition from microfilm to digitization and work closely with the production, biography and subject files departments to preserve newspaper, magazine and trade paper clippings.


  • Operate and maintain a Micle 2200 microfiche machine and flatbed scanner.
  • Retrieve and prepare clipping files for microfiching and digitization.
  • Photograph and scan clippings and ephemera according to institutional standards.
  • Update workflow spreadsheet.
  • Create, catalog and update database records.
  • Implement and ensure quality control.
  • Produce monthly progress reports.
  • Perform reference and customer service.
Position Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Library and Information Sciences or Archival Studies from an accredited program.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Film or related field preferred.
  • Experience operating and maintaining a microfiche machine and digital scanner.
  • Broad knowledge of film history and research practices.
  • Understanding of archival principles, digital preservation practices and current metadata standards.
  • Ability to carefully handle fragile documents.
  • Experience using sophisticated databases including Adlib and Inmagic.
  • Proficiency in MS Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Must be self-motivated, detail oriented with excellent managerial and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
