Family Educator 

  1. Provide child development, parent education, and family support on home visits to families of home base participants.
  2. Plan for and facilitate parent-child interaction groups and parent support groups.
  3. Provide developmentally appropriate curriculum and a caring, nurturing, and soothing environment for home base participants.
  4. Develop Family Partnership Agreements with each family and support families in achieving their goals.
  5. Coordinate successful completion of recruitment and screening/assessment of eligible children and their families.
  6. Implement goals, policies, procedures, and activities designed to provide the full range of child development and family support services in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, including assisting families with obtaining health services.
  7. Coordinate and develop linkages between other family support service agencies to provide better service delivery to home base families. Serve as an advocate for families within the community.
  8. Complete reports that identify progress in meeting program goals and service delivery data. Participate in staff and regular case management meetings.
  9. Continue professional growth by participating in classes, training programs, workshops, and/or conferences, as directed.
  10. Ensure the health and well-being of pregnant women to prenatal and early child development.
  11. Assist in meeting agency non-federal share matching requirement.
  12. Maintain confidentiality of program records and participant data
Position Requirements
  1. Employee will possess a high school diploma or GED and be able to enroll in a Child Development Associate (CDA) training program with an infant and toddler endorsement. Must have at least three (3) years experience in working with families and young children.
  2. Must pass criminal background check and is subject to the agency’s drug and alcohol testing program.
  3. Negative Tuberculosis Screen, First Aid certification, CPR certification with emphasis on children and toddlers.
  4. Extensive travel required in the area; must be able to travel outside project area as assigned.
  5. May come into contact with childhood diseases and blood on occasion.
  6. Possess a valid Texas driver’s license and acceptable driving record, as approved by the agency’s vehicle insurance carrier.
  7. Employee must have an account with a financial institution that can process financial transactions through MET’s electronic payroll system.
  8. Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer functions.
