Engineering V Technician 

Description
  • Functions as a senior instrumentation sheet metal mechanical engineering technician, applying engineering techniques, principles and precedents to design, develop, modify and install prototype mechanical equipment and hardware for communication related equipment and structures, in support of military weapons support systems.
  • Inspects, maintains, modifies and repairs mechanical hardware, especially metal chassis and frames.
  • Conducts site surveys for the design and layout of mechanical fixtures and foundations for installation on military weapons systems and sub-systems, on mobile communication platforms, and for equipment undergoing test and evaluation.
  • Plans and designs prototypes, constructs and installs special test fixtures and chassis for electronics equipment installation.
  • Provides consultant services to customer project engineers for mechanical systems to be installed on ships, at shore activities and on various types of towers or mobile platforms.
 
Position Requirements
  • This position requires five (5) years of experience in performing the foregoing functions with two (2) years’ experience developing mechanical devices for installation aboard ship, on aircraft or at shore stations.
  • High School Diploma or High School equivalency certification.
  • Completion of a technical school, trade school or advanced technical school curriculum or course of training in mechanics or engineering technology; or completion of at least twenty-four (24) semester hours of course of studies at an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific or technical curriculum.
