Description

We invite you to join our team at PAI. We support a wonderful group of individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, including Autism, who have a wide variety of skills and interests.

The Billing Specialist is a critical thinker with attention to detail and prepared to assertively support PAI’s financial health. The Billing Specialist collaborates with multiple individuals and teams to create and deliver necessary billing processes and products that support the well-being of the company, the staff, and the participants.

  • Process billing attendance information
  • Ensure billing rates on service agreements are accurate; investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Create reports including billing reports
  • Accurately process/submit all electronic claims per MN-ITS billing calendar

Hours: Work Monday-Friday days (flexible start and end times) with occasional evening or weekend work.

Position Requirements

Education and Knowledge

  • High school degree or G.E.D. required. Prefer post-secondary education in medical billing or related course certificate in accounting, and/or bookkeeping
  • Related certifications such as CPP or FPC helpful
  • Working knowledge of MN-ITS (state medical billing), DWRS (Disability Waiver Rate System) or similar medical billing systems

Other Requirements

  • Ability to achieve and maintain a cleared MN Department of Human Services background check that allows unsupervised contact with program participants
  • Reliable transportation for work purposes, a valid driver’s license, a driving record approved by our insurance company and proof of valid car insurance

Skills and Experience

  • Effectively manage time and priorities, including a high level of accuracy
  • Anticipate and respond to changes and emerging needs to ensure billing processes are accurate and timely
  • Demonstrate flexibility and anticipate and respond effectively to change
  • Communicate in a responsive and respectful manner

  • Effectively learn and apply new skills, techniques, and approaches
  • Work equally well with big picture planning and essential operational and regulatory details
  • Appropriately manage confidential information and data privacy laws
  • Effectively communicate in the English language including giving and following oral and written instructions
  • Demonstrate knowledge of computers, Microsoft Word, spreadsheet applications, and financial databases.
 
Preferred Requirements: Experience working in a non-profit environment; Experience with DWRS (Disability Waiver Rate System)
