Special Note: The AFT is looking for an idea-oriented, tech-savvy staff person to serve as the digital production associate for AFT eLearning and Share My Lesson. The selected candidate will produce and publish eLearning online courses for AFT members and will produce and publish content for SML.

Position Summary: The associate/digital production specialist is responsible for working with subject-matter experts on eLearning course creation and with the SML team on content publication. This position is also responsible for the creation and production of eLearning, SML and professional learning webinars.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist AFT staff subject-matter experts and AFT instructional designers with review and production of eLearning courses and communities from storyboards.
  • Work directly with AFT local affiliates on creating, customizing, building and managing access to AFT eLearning and communities.
  • Assist with training AFT staff and AFT local affiliates on how to use AFT eLearning courses and communities.
  • Oversee site access of AFT members verifying membership through the AFT database, and ensure AFT members can access the site.
  • Work with department staff, SML partners and content bloggers to publish SML blogs and 'Today's News, Tomorrow's Lesson.'
  • Draft summary copy for SML collections and SML lessons, when relevant.
  • Maintain the SML YouTube page, producing new videos for promoting collections and content on the site.
  • Assist SML digital marketing specialist to draft and deploy marketing emails.
  • Update pages on SML for search engine optimization and monitor SEO traffic through Ahrefs and Google analytics.
  • Provide internal and external Drupal developers with site updates, identify bugs and review new site features before deployment, for both Share My Lesson and AFT eLearning.
  • Coordinate and conduct Share My Lesson and AFT educational issues webinars for AFT members by working with speakers, building the registration pages and moderating the webinars.
  • Maintain and track database for AFT Professional Learning courses.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements
  • Ability to work collaboratively on multiple work teams.
  • Familiarity with current versions of Drupal (or similar open source sites).
  • Knowledge of ON24, Zoom or other webinar platforms.
  • Knowledge of best practices for search engine optimization.
  • Knowledge of Google analytics and Ahrefs.
  • Knowledge of email marketing and publishing in IBM Acoustic.
  • Ability to manage workload and meet simultaneous deadlines on multiple projects.
  • Strong oral communication skills are a must.
  • Familiarity with producing digital resources that support a union environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance priorities and exhibit resourcefulness under time constraints is a plus.

Work Environment Work is generally performed in an office environment but requires periodic travel.
