POSITION SUMMARY: BASIC FUNCTION

The HR Business Partner is both a strategic and hands on role that provides HR support to the business by embedding corporate HR strategy into day-to-day work and providing professional HR guidance and support to internal client groups with the objective of driving HR functional excellence and process improvement.

Regular, predictable attendance is essential for satisfactory performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Understand business goals and recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in business objectives, productivity and development of HR within the company.

Support management in forecasting and planning their talent pipeline requirements in line with the function or business strategy.

Collaborate with L&D to determine appropriate employee training and manage its delivery.

Review key business performance targets and their related talent implications with business leaders.

Assist business unit leaders in providing employees with development opportunities that align with current and future performance standards.

A true hands-on approach to successfully monitor the "pulse" of the employees to ensure a high level of employee engagement

Provide expert advice and coaching to employees when appropriate.

Understand and solicit employee opinions and anticipate their needs and concerns.

Review and benchmark the internal and external environment to improve HR policies and initiatives.

Identify and drive the sharing of best practices across functions and within HR to facilitate continuous improvement.

Act as a liaison between employees and HR to ensure that HR services are aligned with internal client needs.

Identify new opportunities for HR to add value to the business.

Maintain knowledge of progressive HR practices and key trends.

Facilitate a strong leadership and coaching culture.

Manage specific projects as determined in the annual HR operational plan and contribute to functional and cross-functional initiatives.

Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Able to be highly confidential

Ability and desire to interface at all levels of the organization

Clear, comprehensive understanding of the link between talent and other HR initiatives and business strategy

Ability to develop clear, actionable steps in support of an overall business strategy

Ability to identify new ways for HR to support the business strategy

Ability to recognize trends and develop recommendations based on data analysis

Ability to engage, inspire, and influence people

Ability to develop and deliver relevant, effective training programs to targeted audiences

Success in creating and driving effective development, employee relations, retention and reward programs

Experience with a rapidly changing and complex work environment

Effective team player and networker

Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills

Significant knowledge of HR policies, processes (e.g., workforce planning and talent management), and talent management practices

Proficient with computers to include the utilization of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, Visio, Power Point and Outlook.

Manages stress and/or fast-pace effectively.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in business administration, HR management, or related field or equivalent work and/or education required

SPHR or SHRM certification preferred

Minimum 10-12 years' experience in Human Resources as a manager or business partner

May require specific experience supporting a large non-exempt workforce or specific experience supporting a Sales organization

High School Diploma required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Primarily sitting with some walking, standing, and bending.

Able to hear and speak into a telephone.

Close visual work on a computer terminal.

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.

Able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.

Able to climb a ladder and work on a raised platform.

WORK CONDITIONS

Standard office

Extensive daily usage of workstation or computer.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to travel 25% - 50%, occasionally on short notice.

Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver's license.
