Our Team:

The Chemist II accurately performs analytical testing on raw materials and finished products via multiple analytical instrumentation in order to support on-going product release including but not limited to: stability studies, new raw material approval, and semi-finished products. The incumbent will be responsible for managing daily tasks in order to meet testing turnaround times and maximize productivity. The hours for this position are 2:30pm - 11:00pm, Monday thru Friday.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Accurately performs analytical testing of samples to support incoming raw materials, in-process production, finished product and stability samples with minimal supervision.
  • Drafts and documents routine analytical testing to support raw material and/or product release including but not limited to stability samples and semi-finished products.
  • Works primarily independently while occasionally being directed by team leader or designee during special projects.
  • Acts as the senior analyst when routine testing results are out-of-specification (OOS) by performing sample re-testing.
  • Conducts themselves as a role model, provides training and support to Chemist I and Lab technicians.
  • Supports analytical method development from conceptualization to implementation; performs testing method transfer/verification/validation protocols and collaborates with team leader to introduce new testing methods.
  • Perform technical (peer) review of data generated by other analysts (notebook write-ups, worksheets, etc.) as required.
  • Creates, uphold and revise standard operating procedures.
  • Assures that all work areas are maintained in a neat and orderly fashion. Perform necessary cleaning, maintenance, and calibration of instrumentation, as required.
  • Performs all activities in compliance with the SOPs and cGLP/cGMP requirements.
  • Assumes other responsibilities as assigned by laboratory management or designee.

 

What you bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science
  • Two or more years of experience as a Chemist I or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience with method validation, verification or transfer via compendial methodology
  • Proficient with three or more of the following: Liquid Chromatography (HPLC or GC), ICP-OES, ICP-MS or Nitrogen combustion analyzer or Thin layer chromatography and have good scientific understanding of these techniques
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Computer proficiency

 

Preferred Experience and Education:

  • Master’s Degree in Science or related field
  • Prior nutraceutical industry experience
  • Formulation experience as it pertains to nutraceuticals
  • Bilingual

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in one of the sciences with a minimum of 2 years of appropriate experience and training, or other appropriate combination of education and experience. Familiar with ICP-MS, Liquid chromatography and basic assay of Vitamins and Minerals.
