Position Survey Crew Chief  

Our downtown Minneapolis office has an opening for a Survey Crew Chief! This role will support the survey department by providing measurement and mapping for preparation of typical projects such as existing condition topographic, boundary, easement, plats, as-built surveys and construction staking.


  • Adjusts and operates surveying instruments
  • Operates and manages field computer uploading, downloading and storing data
  • Analyzes, compiles notes and data obtained from surveying into computer in the field or in the office
  • Performs duties such as staking, clearing brush or carrying equipment
  • Requires working technical knowledge of measuring and mapping and data collection practices
  • Requires proficiency with appropriate technology and computer software such as Total Station, Global Positioning System (GPS) or Differential Leveling related to field
  • Performs specific technical assignments as directed by the Survey Crew Chief or Land Surveyor
  • Interacts with contractors and/or clients on a project site may be necessary
Position Requirements


  • High school diploma required.
  • Secondary education from a two-year technical school in survey technology or equivalent field training and experience preferred.
  • Operation of field equipment
  • Working knowledge of survey instruments
  • Knowledge of Trimble data collectors, Total Stations and GPS receivers
  • Software comprehension of AutoCAD, Civil3D, MicroStation, GeoPak and general computer skills preferred


  • Valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable for insurability.
  • L.S.I.T. or Technical certification is desirable but not required.
