Adult Psychiatrist-PACT 

Description

The Richmond Behavioral Health Authority is a local Community Services Board (CSB) serving the city of Richmond, Va. RBHA seeking to hire a committed and compassionate Adult Psychiatrist to join our Program for Assertive Community Treatment (PACT) Team full time. This team is responsible for serving adults diagnosed with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. While working with a multidisciplinary team of professionals, the primary responsibilities will be diagnosis, treatment, medication management, and consultation.

  • Provides direct psychiatric services to RBHA clients, including psychiatric evaluations and medication/monitoring, utilizing a patient centered, recovery focused, trauma informed approach to treatment in community based setting.
  • Establishes and modifies treatment plans including diagnosis; prescribes medication; monitors client’s response to treatment including medication side effects and adverse reactions.
  • Knowledge of best psychiatric and pharmacological practices including substance use disorders, crisis management, and developmental disabilities
  • Orders and interprets lab results.
  • Participates as part of RBHA interdisciplinary teams and works collaboratively with all staff to ensure that the clients achieve the best outcomes.
  • Maintains timely and accurate documentation congruent with the agency’s guidelines, best practice standards of his/her profession and managed care standards.
  • Provides medical input for the development and review of policies, procedures and protocol that govern care.
  • Effectively manages time to reduce barriers to access while reducing operational costs.
  • Daily utilization and documentation of all services in the electronic health record.
  • Collaborates as part of an integrated interdisciplinary care team that addresses the psychiatric, medical and substance use of individuals under care.
  • Participates in daily PACT team meetings.
  • Attends and completes all required training to meet regulatory and agency requirements.
  • Represents RBHA on committees, taskforces, and work groups comprised of federal, state and local government officials and community leaders from the private sector as requested.
 
Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basic general psychiatry and general medical knowledge; basic psychopathology of major mental disorders; treatment options spanning biological treatments with a sound knowledge of psychopharmacology, psychotherapy / counseling and psychosocial intervention.
  • Strong clinical skills as a psychiatric provider working with individuals with serious mental illnesses, substance use disorders and medical differentials as well as experience in Crisis Management.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with others and communicate effectively with a wide range of personalities.
  • Ability to implement patient centered treatment plans; providing psychiatric interviewing and diagnosis; providing psychosocial intervention.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of psychiatry, psychopathology and various treatment plans, complete required case documentation, and maintain a high level of confidentiality and ethical medical standards.
  • Computer skills with the ability to type and enter information into the electronic health record.
  • Ability to utilize basic office equipment.

Education and Experience

Must possess a valid license to practice in the state of Virginia as a psychiatrist. Must have graduated from, accredited school of medicine, and have completed a program of residency training in psychiatry. The employee must be either eligible for certification or be certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology as an Adult or Child Psychiatrist.

Special Requirements

Licensed as a Medical Doctor and board certified in Adult and or Child Psychiatry with Prescriptive Authority License, Drug Enforcement Administration license and National Provider Identification.
