STR is currently seeking an Information Technology Co-Op that will work under the guidance and direction of the Service Manager. In this role, you are expected to exhibit professionalism while working and will be given the ability to make decisions with minimal supervision. As a successful co-op, you will be a team player, flexible, a priority setter, clear communicator (both written and verbally) and you will manage customer expectations in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

STR is a privately-owned, rapidly growing business focused on research and development (R&D) for the defense and intelligence communities. We are a nationally recognized leader in research areas including data analytics, sensors and signal processing, electronic warfare, cyber, video and image understanding, command and control, and precision navigation. Several programs have transitioned advanced technology to military and intelligence users. While our primary focus is on serving US Government customers, we are pursuing commercial applications as well.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides efficient and effective first line of support for local, remote and mobile staff
  • Identify, research and resolve technical issues for users in a positive manner
  • Add to the IT knowledge base with clear/concise/detailed entries
  • Treat every issue as an opportunity to educate the end-user
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of hardware and software licenses
  • Perform hands-on diagnostics at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications
  • Test issue remediation to ensure problem has been adequately resolved. Perform post-resolution follow-ups, time permitting
  • Create and/or maintain end-user documentation on procedures and how-to’s
  • Creation and administration of Active Directory and Office365 accounts
  • Provision new computers for employees
  • Help in maintaining scanners, copiers and workstations
  • Provision phones and voicemail boxes (mobile and office)
  • Utilize ITSM system and remediate tickets for desktop services
  • Populate the Asset Management system
  • Order hardware and software for users and maintain a stockage objective for general consumption items
  • Support the IT Team with duties as necessary to include server, user and network administration
  • Create Linux accounts and manage groups, home directories, and access
  • Collaborate with IT Team
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Previous IT co-op experience recommended
  • Strong team player with the ability to adapt to a quickly changing environment in a rapidly growing company
  • Excellent problem solving, time management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize work and meet customer demands and deadlines
  • Exceptional customer service, interpersonal skills, and desire to learn. Self-motivated with strong analytical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience in supporting desktop operating systems including Windows 10, and Mac OSX (Mojave and above). Familiarity with Linux is a plus
  • Experience in supporting typical business and engineering applications
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance
