Job Summary

The Assistant, Community Affairs will assist in the planning and executing of all Pittsburgh Pirates community outreach and/or relations programming at the ballpark and in the community-at-large. This position will serve as the point of contact for all customer service needs regarding the Pirates community tickets and in-kind donation programs. This position will also support the ballclub’s youth baseball and softball programs in the Pirates market.

Responsibilities

  1. Fulfill external and internal donation requests for the Pirates community tickets and in-kind donation programs.
  2. Make sure that all Pirates Community Affairs external email accounts are checked and processed daily.
  3. Assist the Manager of Youth Baseball with the development and maintenance of a Youth Baseball/Softball database.
  4. Attend Pirates-sponsored youth baseball and softball activities throughout the year.
  5. Facilitate batting practice and Meet-and-Greet experiences with ballclub community and/or Pirates Charities guests.
  6. Other duties as assigned.
  7. Assist with community pregame ceremonies/events.
  8. Represent the Pirates at social/business functions at the ballpark and/or within the community.
  9. Send follow-up event surveys and report on results.
  10. Assist with player appearances/requests.
  11. Assist with player family support services and activities.
 
Position Requirements

Required:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, or equivalent
  2. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  3. Experience using social media platforms (TikTok, SnapChat, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)
  4. Valid Driver’s License

Desired:

  1. Experience in working in a nonprofit and/or community-based organization.
  2. Knowledge of peer trends in Pittsburgh communities
