Job Summary:
Performs plant, field, and laboratory monitoring, testing, and evaluation of construction products for conformance to job specifications.

• Log, inspect, and test daily aggregate and asphalt plant production products using ASTM, AASHTO, and Caltrans-specified testing procedures. Must develop and understanding of concrete, aggregate, and asphalt production.
• Maintain regular communication with plant personnel and/or supervisor to report material acceptability and test results
• Maintain clear and accurate records on products, quality, and activities
• Accurately enter field and lab reports on test data and activities into computer
• Prepare laboratory trial mixes
• Support material delivery and customer service in the field
• Test and inspect concrete and asphalt mixes and make field adjustments to maintain specifications
• Support miscellaneous plant activities as needed
• Work at other Central Coast plant and laboratory locations will be required
• Promote a Zero-Injury culture through personal adherence to all company safety policies and practices

Position Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent

• Possession of and/or ability to acquire and maintain industry certifications in aggregates, asphalt, and concrete
• Ability to safely lift and handle material samples weighing 60 lbs. on a regular basis
• Computer literate in Windows-based database programs and MS Office products
• Math skills including basic statistics and estimating
• Ability to work independently and remain self-motivated with minimal direct supervision
• Skills establishing and maintaining effective professional working relationships with staff and customers
• Ability to maintain an effective working relationship within a team environment. Ability to communicate effectively in stressful situations.
• Valid drivers’ license and clean driving record required
• Able to work a flexible work schedule inlcuding nights, weekends, and overime. Sometimes on short notice.
• Appreciation for timely, accurate data collection and reporting

Conditions of Employment:
Successful candidate must submit to post offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
