Job Summary

The Director, Entertainment Media and Video Content is responsible for the Pirates’ overall entertainment media and video content strategy and execution. The Director will execute multi-faceted media efforts to relay the Pirates’ narrative as it relates to both on-field and off-field initiatives. Specifically, the incumbent will provide leadership for the development, production, broadcast, and direction of all elements of entertainment media, including but not limited to in-game presentation, and original video content as produced by the Pirates.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Establish, through facilitation with key stakeholders, the primary goals for entertainment media and video content to relay and enhance the Pirates’ narrative and strategically plan team member assignments and content development around those goals.
  2. Oversee the entertainment media and original video content production efforts for the Pirates, to include but not limited to, the implementation of all aspects of video and entertainment media production including conceptualization, design and animation – including but not limited to pregame, in-game and postgame features; :15/:30/:60 broadcast commercials; original short-form and long-form video content for distribution on all Club platforms.
  3. Lead the original video production and in-game entertainment media teams, including but not limited to, ensuring that team members are appropriately trained and developed to meet the Pirates’ needs.
  4. Manage the strategic plan and budget for entertainment media and video content.
  5. Collaborate with numerous corporate departments, including but not limited to, communications and broadcasting, corporate relationships, marketing and advertising to develop, shoot, edit and distribute content among various channels.
  6. All other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Broadcast/Media, Production, or Communications.
  • At least seven years’ experience in entertainment media and/or video production at varying levels in the sports and entertainment industry.
  • Three years’ experience in live event production, direction, and management including live multi-camera directing.
  • Three years’ experience leading a production team with demonstrated ability to develop direct reports.
  • Technical comprehension of the various systems that support a scoreboard (video playback, replay, graphics creation and implementation, fascia controllers, audio boards, etc.).
  • Demonstrated production skills, including knowledge of camera operation, lighting, sound and post production skills using programs such as Final Cut Pro, Avid, After Effects, Click Effects and Photoshop.

Desired:

  • Understanding of corporate sponsorship sales and brand activation in sports and entertainment industry.
  • Experience in short and long-form documentary pieces in sports and entertainment.
