The Accounts Payable Specialist will be assigned a major core task. This initial core task will be their primary responsibility to ensure accuracy and completion on a monthly basis. This position devotes 100% of their time to accounting functions, regularly exercises discretion and judgment in their work. Familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Controller, this position will perform the processing of high volume and full cycle of accounts payable transactions to include:

  1. Review invoices for required documentation and approval
  2. Process invoices via 3-way match
  3. Coding of AP invoices and expense reports with proper general ledger accounts
  4. Enter and post invoices into Great Plains
  5. Process check requests
  6. Process demand check runs (ACH, Wires, etc...)
  7. Match invoices to checks, obtain signatures for checks and distribute accordingly
  8. Respond to vendor inquires in a professional manner
  9. Work with departments to research and correct invoice discrepancies
  10. Maintain files and support documentation
  11. Assist in month end closing procedures for AP and meet deadlines set forth
  12. Special projects as assigned
 
Position Requirements

SKILLS

  • Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision
  • Ability to care, respond and work with individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Ability to identify, define problems and draw valid solutions
  • Ability to interpret instructions, gain knowledge and have initiative
  • Great Plains or similar ERP system experience preferred

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: High School diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred: Minimum 3 years of verifiable work experience in accounts payable
  • Preferred: Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
