Human Resources Generalist 

Description

Dominion National, a rapidly growing and leading provider of dental and vision benefits has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Human Resource Generalist in our Arlington, VA office.

The HR Generalist maintains a high level of confidentiality and integrity while providing administrative support to the Human Resources department, work will focus on coordinating recruiting related activities, on-boarding of new employees and maintenance of employee records. Work involves assisting with implementing policies and programs related to human resources including recruiting, company policies and procedures, benefits, employee relations and legal compliance under the direction of the HR leadership team. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential functions include but are not limited to:

  • Creates and maintain job postings, tracking of applicants and related communications.
  • Proactively develops and utilizes various sources for potential applicants to fulfill staffing needs such as job fairs, temporary labor program, school/ community relationships, databases, social media, etc.
  • Coordinates applicant screening, interviews and communication throughout the recruitment process.
  • Maintain relationships with staffing agencies and assist with invoice reconciliation.
  • Prepare offer letters and other on-boarding communications as required; professionally conducts new employee orientation.
  • Assist with new hire on-boarding to include but not limited to assembling new employee packets, scheduling new hire training, collecting new employee paperwork and setting up new employee folders.
  • Completes I-9 E-verify in accordance with state and federal laws, process timely recertification, and complete I-9 audits.
  • Completes background, reference and other related checks.
  • Accurately provides Human Resources support to include but not limited to processing new hires, status changes, terminations, unemployment, employee benefits and policy change communications.
  • Assists with special projects (open enrollment, annual increases, evaluations, wellness programs, HR intranet maintenance).
  • Assist with social committee events, activities, employee recognition programs and company meetings.
  • Ensures adherence to all federal, state and local regulations.
  • Maintain current knowledge base of existing and/or emerging regulations, standards, competencies, or document changes
  • Assist with human resources recordkeeping and reporting functions.
  • Assist in benefit enrollment process by assembling benefit packets and scheduling employee benefit meetings.
  • Assist with benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, reconciliation of vendor invoices for payment, and answering employee benefit questions.
  • Assist with Worker's Compensation claims and procedures.
  • Continual updates of job knowledge by engaging in continuing education opportunities/trainings and maintaining participation in professional organizations (SHRM)
  • Performs other duties as assigned
 
Position Requirements

The minimum qualifications for the ideal candidate include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or related field
  • At least 3 years of progressively more responsible Human Resources experience
  • Ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Team player with ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with various levels of staff and leadership
  • Strong computer proficiency including MS Office Suite, ATS and HRIS systems
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and provide back-up to others in department as needed.
  • Ability to be flexible in work schedule as needed.
  • SHRM-CP designation is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills necessary
  • Demonstrated knowledge of employment laws and regulations
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills necessary
