Description

STR performs advanced research and development using machine learning, program analysis, optimization, artificial intelligence, and formal methods for the cybersecurity and resiliency of cyber-physical systems. Addressing the most urgent national security challenges, STR is developing fundamentally new capabilities in cyber-physical systems modeling, vulnerability analysis, and attack detection and remediation.

We are currently seeking project managers who are passionate about collaborative problem solving. Successful candidates will manage a portfolio of cyber research and development programs. The Role:

The project manager is responsible for managing all program phases, from ideation, marketing, and proposal development through execution and program close-out. Daily activities include management and oversight of program technical, financial, and schedule performance. The project manager works with the principal investigator, technical staff, subcontractors, and support personnel to identify and address risks and issues. Candidates must be able to manage program performance through review of metrics and program execution milestones, and gather, evaluate, and synthesize data from multiple sources, such as project reports, project staff, and customer feedback, to understand and communicate status and to identify trends in program performance. This position requires frequent interactions with external program customers and STR leadership.

 
Position Requirements

Who You Are:

  • A mid-level technical manager with a BS in a scientific, engineering or mathematical discipline, and some experience managing R&D projects, or

  • A senior-level manager, perhaps with a Masters in a scientific, engineering or mathematical discipline, and several years of experience managing R&D projects

  • Experience in project management within DoD or IC, and/or functional experience directly supporting program objectives such as managing cost, schedule, and technical performance

  • Able to manage scientists, engineers, and technicians across broad areas of expertise

  • Able to achieve cost, schedule, and customer objectives on advanced technology programs

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment to enable successful contract execution

  • Able to build strong customer relationships and establish open lines of communication

  • Motivated collaborator and effective communicator to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Active Secret clearance

Some Other Relevant Skills You May Have:

  • Experience writing technical proposals, or leading proposal efforts

  • Experience spanning all project phases, from ideation to technology research and product development

  • Working knowledge of DOD acquisition policy and processes

  • Technical breadth and a demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple, technically diverse programs and teams.

  • Experience marketing and winning new projects
