Applications Analyst

OEC is currently accepting applications for Applications Analyst. This is a full-time position located at OEC headquarters in Norman, OK

The Applications Analyst is responsible for providing and technical support for in-house and third-party enterprise level and other applications and software. This position maintains reliable operation of critical business applications and strives to identify and address issues before they occur.

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the enterprise-level applications and software systems, such as customer information systems, outage management systems, and meter reading applications.
    • Schedules and performs updates and upgrades, running tests to ensure successful implementation.
    • Assesses and maintains the integration among systems, customizing applications as needed.
    • Coordinates and schedules tasks to minimize system downtime.
  • Creating users and assigns user access levels.
  • Training users on utilization of applications.
  • Works closely with users to identify and analyze needs, procedures, and software requirements in order to improve workflow and applications.
  • Monitoring and assessing performance of systems to ensure database integrity.
    • Works proactively to identify potential issues and resolves.
  • Preparing standard and customized data and workflow reports.
  • Researches and recommends updates and upgrades to applications, systems, and software.

Ideal candidates meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 1 year experience OR Associate's degree and 3 years' experience
    • Experience should be of a progressively increasing responsibility with application administration and data analytics.
    • Education should be in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Experience communicating and collaborating with internal users, vendors, and programmers
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Advanced knowledge of a broad range of computer systems and applications technologies
  • Working knowledge of report generation systems, such as Crystal Reports preferred
  • Working knowledge of relational databases such as Access, Oracle, MSSQL preferred
  • Ability to: determine how a system should work and how changes will affect outcomes; identifying complex problems and reviewing data to implement solutions; quickly makes sense of, combine, and organize information into meaningful patterns
  • Qualities of: alternative thinking to develop new ideas for and answers to work-related problems; developing one's own way of doing things; guiding oneself with little supervision; depending on oneself to get things done
